Many of you have probably heard of the rising economies and econimic boom currently underway in Central and South America. We can all agree that this is a good trend for these underdeveloped countries that traditionally live in poverty. However, not everyone is sharing in this new economy.

The indigenous people of these regions, as well as the poor and the children, are not getting any better off. Many don't have an actual school and are forced to take their classes outdoors. Still more don't even have the basics such as notebooks, pencils, paper and texts.

Rooms To Learn is a group of people that truly believe learning is the key to the future of these children. Economic inequality and disadvantage cannot survive in an educated society.

Education is the key to a brighter future for these most vulnerable of people. Standing up for them is not a long-term answer. We believe that, if educated, they will be able to stand up for themselves, and thus insure the prosperity of future generations. In this, these children themselves become part of the solution for others in need rather than continue to be part of the problem.
